ANOTHER ARSENAL STAR UNDERGOES SURGERY FOLLOWING BAD KNEE INJURY
Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has confirmed that he recently underwent knee surgery after struggling with an injury for much of the season. In an emotional Instagram post, the Japan international expressed his determination to recover and return to action as soon as possible.
Tomiyasu’s setback marks another major injury blow for Arsenal, with the 26-year-old becoming the fourth player in recent weeks—following Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and Reiss Nelson (currently on loan at Fulham)—to undergo surgery. While no official timeline has been provided for his recovery, it is expected that he will miss the remainder of the season.
This is the second time Tomiyasu has required knee surgery since joining Arsenal from Bologna in 2021. He first suffered the issue during pre-season and, despite making a brief six-minute appearance against Southampton in October, he experienced an immediate relapse.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had previously expressed optimism about Tomiyasu’s return before the end of the campaign. However, the club and player ultimately decided that surgery was the best course of action to ensure a full recovery.
